Biodiversity and universities

Sir, – It is interesting to compare the approach to biodiversity adopted by the two leading Dublin universities: Trinity College plants a wildflower meadow (September 30th), while University College Dublin cuts down a great many trees in Belfield. This is to enable building projects, including a Giants’ Causeway-inspired building.

Even the grass surrounding the enlarged car park that now replaces the running track has been eradicated!
