Sir, - I am flattered that I managed to hoodwink your reviewer (Books, March 2nd) into believing that Whack Joyce was my cousin and that my parents were Travellers. Certainly the authenticity of the idiom has led others into believing the same.
Much have I travelled, but only in "the realms of gold" - not on the road, alas. That minor misunderstanding aside, I am grateful for the favourable and positive review. - Yours, etc.,
