Madam, - As Minister Noel Dempsey is proposing to further reduce the blood alcohol limit for drivers, I wonder if there would be merit in having a variable limit, as we have for speed? Vehicles are allowed go faster on motorways and national roads. Why not have reduced blood alcohol limits on these roads and higher limits on back roads. People in rural areas would not then be penalised for being over a stringent limit on back roads when they go to the pub to socialise. - Yours, etc,
