Sir, – I agree with Malachy Clerkin (“Mary McAleese questioned the GAA’s attitude towards women – now they’ve replaced her with a man”, Sport, October 9th). If the steering committee wish to prove Mary McAleese wrong in her criticism of their vision for the GAA and their unwillingness to get integration done quickly, then they have gone the wrong way about it.
We needed the strong voice of a well-recognised woman to show that integration is needed now, not 10 years down the road.
Sadly, I have to concur with McAleese’s criticism and thank her for all her trojan work. – Yours, etc,
FIDELMA O’SULLIVAN,
