Short letters for short attention spans

Sir, – Given how often commentary in The Irish Times decries the short attention span of our scrolling youth, the vociferous support for short letters seems ironic.

A couple of sentences may suffice to state or even defend a view, but can it really challenge or change those of others? – Yours, etc,
