Sir, – I would respectfully disagree with Dr Alan Eustace’s proposal to place a legal obligation on private sector employers to engage with trade unions (Letters, July 2nd). The Trumpian style of forcing people to come to the table “to make a deal” is no replacement for the conciliatory process necessary for good industrial relations now and into the future. – Yours, etc,
