Oil price increases

Suppliers are using the Middle East conflict as an excuse for ripping off households

Letters to the Editor. Illustration: Paul Scott

Sir, – Last week I purchased 600 litres of kerosene home heating oil for €594.

Today that costs €704. An increase of 18 per cent.

Crude oil prices have only increased by 10 per cent over the last week. It should normally take a month or so for that to reflect at the pump.

Suppliers are all ripping households off, using the Middle East conflict as an excuse. – Yours, etc,

PAUL DELAHUNTY
