Sir, – Further to “Ambitious plans for Dublin lido gather momentum” (News, November 18th), given the climate change risks to Dublin’s coastline, a more sustainable use of George’s Dock could integrate flood protection with community leisure facilities.
Instead of a traditional lido, the area could be transformed into a biodiversity-focused parkland that includes water gardens, wetlands, and native tree planting.
By thinking climate first in this coastal planning, George’s Dock could become a global model for sustainable and resilient urban development that prioritises environmental health alongside community wellbeing, a resource to be enjoyed for generations to come. – Yours, etc,
