Sir, – I wonder how many of your readers have searched for flights to Australia or Googled “Australian visas for over-40s”, as I am wont to do after reading one of Brianna Parkins’s or Laura Kennedy’s entertaining and engaging articles?
How long before a Government official lobbies The Irish Times to tone down the relentless Antipodean positivity? Or perhaps they are in on the joke and it’s all part of a conspiracy to offload some of our excess population in a bid to reduce the housing demand? Surely one columnist Down Under is sufficient, but two young journalists extolling the virtues of the Aussie lifestyle does seem a bit excessive. – Yours, etc,
