Sir, – Hats off to Dublin City Council. This week it provided an opportunity for the people of Dublin north inner city to come together as a community to witness one of their own winning her second gold medal. I’ve no doubt it will facilitate her homecoming party too when it occurs.
In the same week, it hosted, for the 25th successive year, Opera in the Open in its amphitheatre at the Civic Offices and it will host three further operas in the month of August.
All of this, free of charge. If I lived in Dublin, I would be happy that some of my local property tax is being spent on these joyous occasions. – Yours, etc,
