Sir, – I am appalled to read that the Taoiseach’s family and home have been threatened by sinister online protesters (“Gardaí investigate ‘especially sinister’ Instagram threats made to Taoiseach and his family”, News, August 6th).

Is it not time to provide the Taoiseach with a secure private state residence? We must be one of the few countries in the world where the prime minister lives in the family home in a housing estate. –
