Sir, – The Irish Times reports that the CSO estimates that the Irish population could pass seven million by 2057, raising questions of what infrastructure investment is required to support such population growth, our willingness to undertake it, and the consequences if we fail to do so (News, July 16th).
The Irish population was just 3.5 million in 1990 when the M50 first opened. Today the M50 is the most important transport artery in the country and already operating well above capacity. Surely it is now time to plan a new “M100″ orbital route for Dublin? – Yours, etc,
