Sir, – Thanks to Nick Bradshaw for the intriguing photograph depicting a fox and, I believe, a grey heron, not a cormorant as stated, engaging on the beautifully maintained parks along the Dodder river in Dublin (“Educational film underlines importance of the Dodder”, Science & Climate, July 4th).
Cormorants, as many of your readers will be aware, have an almost totally black plumage and are mainly observed in coastal locations.
While cormorants can be seen on the Dodder, they are not as numerous as the grey heron. – Yours,etc,
