All the seasons in one day?

Sir, – The old saying that in this country we “get all the seasons in one day” now seems like another romanticism. If only. Here in the west, we are currently getting three seasons every day, and none of them summer. – Yours, etc,

JOHN HILLERY,

Miltown Malbay,

Co Clare.

Sir, – Regardless of the irony of being printed directly about a headline that read “Chilly June one of the coldest on record”, your article on research results from Maynooth University scientists (“Temperatures over 30 degrees to be more frequent”, News, July 3rd) does offer us a small piece of comfort. At least it will be warm rain. – Yours, etc,

PAT MULLEN,

Kilkerley,

Co Louth.
