Sir, – Perhaps a more efficient way to incentivise the use of electric cars would be to start at home: mandate that all cars used by Government politicians and employees of State and semi-State bodies and civil servants be electric by 2027. Also the Revenue could discontinue all mileage allowances, benefit in kind and parking perks for non-electric vehicles from the same date.
The Government needs to reach a tipping point in the swing to electric power: why not start with areas in which they can exert control? – Yours, etc,
