Sir, – The traffic chaos throughout Dublin, including the M50, on Saturday was an example of the lack of coordination by our public authorities. There is a licensing system for public events and when a certain critical point is reached, permission should be refused. A situation where many requests for a licence are granted but which requires Garda leave to be cancelled should never be allowed to arise.
In addition, we clearly do not have the transport infrastructure that allows multiple events over one weekend. Let’s stop fooling ourselves and those visiting this city. – Yours, etc,
