Sir, – Further to “Eamon Ryan steps down as Green Party leader and will not run in next election” (News, June 18th), while all political careers must end in failure, Eamon Ryan can claim some victories that he can take to his recycling bank. And while his policies or communication style may have been clumsy and not have been to everyone’s taste, there is no doubting his motivation and innate decency. He sought to save the world starting at home and not for personal gain or aggrandisement. It’s a reasonable outcome. – Yours, etc,
