Sir, – It rains, on average, anywhere from 151 to 225 days per year in Ireland, but Irish people still manage to say “There’s the rain” every single time.
Surely there’s a Guinness world record in that for the longest rain warning in history? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I was somewhat surprised when I heard that May just past was the warmest on record (“Met Éireann says last month was country’s warmest May on record”, News, June 5th). I await with interest as to whether this June will be found to be the coldest. – Yours, etc,
