Sir, – In the debate regarding the cost of living, and the huge price increases of household items which are evident when at the supermarket checkout, the price of takeaway food appears to have escaped all attention in this regard.
One could easily spend €60 now on a typical meal for all the family on what used to be a traditional family treat.
Considering the humble bag of chips now costs approximately €4.50, you can guess if the family required something more elaborate, like onion rings, battered fish, pizza, etc, what the eventual tally would be. – Yours, etc,
