Sir, – My family and I visited a large garden centre in Wicklow at the weekend and decided to have lunch. We purchased four plastic bottles of water.
On checking my receipt, I realised that there was a 60 cent deposit charged.
I asked where I could get my deposit back. I was informed that I would have to take my bottles home and get a refund elsewhere.
I don’t think it’s practical or desirable to expect patrons of restaurants or other establishments to have to bring their own empties home. – Yours, etc,
