Sir, – I read with interest the recent Frank McNally article on the Joycean festivities at Dublin’s Mullingar House (April 17th).

While the narrative vividly captures the Mamalujo section’s centenary reading and the clever integration of HCE in the plaque, it regrettably overlooks the performance of The Washerwomen by an all-female cast.

In 2024, as we strive for greater inclusivity, acknowledging contributions across gender lines in traditionally male-dominated areas like Joyce studies becomes crucial.

Recognising these talented women would not only enrich our cultural discourse but also honour the diverse perspectives that Joyce himself celebrated. – Yours, etc,
