Sir, – A reader has commented on the odds of winning the Lotto jackpot (Letters, March 13th). The odds for Lotto and all of our games are published on the National Lottery website under “Useful Information, Games Info”.
With long odds nonetheless come large prizes and large contributions to society.
Last year, the Lotto jackpot was won, on average, once every five weeks and the game created 22 millionaires. The average weekly amount raised by National Lottery players for good causes throughout the length and breadth of Ireland is over €4 million.
