Sir, – I read Molly Furey’s article on the ageing process (“I went to visit my old school. Big mistake. At 25 I now feel ancient”, Life, March 6th). It was beautifully written and well observed. It occurred to me, though, and not attempting to apply a stereotype to an Irish Times reader, that the vast majority of those reading this piece may have left the quarter-century milestone well behind and perhaps the next quarter-century also. It is hard to feel any empathy for one who pines for their early twenties when the early fifties look very attractive! – Yours, etc,
AIDAN BOYLE,
