Sir, – “‘Vibecession’ hits as Irish consumers feel gloomy despite positive signs” (Your Money, February 12th) is a good article but please don’t use the portmanteau word “vibecession”. I can perhaps understand its development and use among economists but it’s being used in US journalism to effectively tell people who are experiencing an increased cost of living that they’re too stupid to understand the economy is doing great.
What’s wrong with just referring to cost of living pressures?
We don’t need TikTok terms littering the discourse. – Yours, etc,
