Sir, – As Veganuary comes to a close, readers who want to do their bit for the planet, for other animals, and for each other may want to consider joining the newly relaunched Vegan Society of Ireland.
Switching to a plant-based diet is not only a powerful way to combat climate change, but it’s also a practical and economical choice.
A plant-based diet conserves water, reduces deforestation, and significantly decreases greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, numerous studies have shown that a well-balanced vegan diet can not only provide all the nutrients our bodies need, but potentially reduces the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and certain types of cancer.
By choosing a vegan lifestyle, we also take a stand for other animals’ rights, promoting a more compassionate world for all living beings.
