Sir, – As I peruse the details of the Toy Story debacle and the lack of governance surrounding it, I think that the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP) might prove helpful to RTÉ in any future ventures (“RTÉ ignored suggestion to cancel Toy Show the Musical after poor ticket sales, report says”, News, January 26th).
JEP focuses on entrepreneurship, planning, factual research as to the public demand for the planned project, financial cost of same, projected profit, and distinct roles within the group.
I should add that JEP is a programme carried out in primary schools nationwide but it would appear to be equally relevant for the RTÉ board. I have a spare copy which I am more than happy to share to ensure that my TV licence money is no longer wasted on wishy-washy, nebulous, hare-brained projects scribbled on the back of an envelope. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – I was disappointed to learn that this set will be scrapped (“RTÉ scraps set of Toy Show the Musical”, News, January 27th). I had hoped that it might have been repurposed by the producers of the yet to be written RTÉ the Musical. It’s guaranteed to be such a success that it wouldn’t even need board approval. – Yours, etc,
