Sir, – I read the letter headlined “Eye of the storm - transport options” (January 23rd) with interest.
As I dashed through cold and driving rain to get to the bus stop yesterday, I too thought of Eamon Ryan.
The bus, a regular new service introduced as part of the Ryan-backed Bus Connects programme, arrived on time and cost €2.
Driving through the new bus and cycle lane, the bus passed car after stationary car as it smoothly brought around 50 passengers to work or school.

And, come to think of it, the drivers sitting in their stationary cars didn’t look as if they were having much fun, either. – Yours, etc,
