Sir, – My beef with our climate activists is that they did not come out in force to protest against the arrival in a mega-large aircraft of a man who does a deal to transport tonnes of Irish meat half-way around the world. Where’s their consistency? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – How interesting to notice the lack of widespread protest directed at the Chinese premier while in Ireland. It appears to have bypassed the collective radar that China is responsible for the imprisonment, coupled with a plethora of human rights abuses, against an estimated million Uighurs.

Where’s the outrage, marches, fiery rhetoric, and calls to boycott Chinese goods? To the cynical, it would appear that people only get outraged at abuses against certain cohorts and care nothing about those who don’t belong to those groups.

Sir,– I see the red carpet was rolled out for Chinese premier Li Qiang. I don’t recall any of our Government-funded NGOs speaking out about China’s human rights record. – Yours, etc,
