Sir, – I see that the 10,000 steps daily advice, previously recommended for health purposes, has been modified to 3,967 (Health, January 9th). With an average in recent years of 12,000 steps, I’m now so far ahead of the curve I should feel like I’ve drunk the elixir of life. The reality is different unfortunately as various bits continue to fall from this ageing rambler. However, I hope to keep up the steps, as many as possible for as long as possible, until the science eventually catches up with me. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL KEEGAN,
Booterstown,
Co Dublin.
