A chara, – Minister for Education Norma Foley insists, in the context of the debate regarding gender identity, that “schools are places of welcome and inclusion” (Education, December 28th). A noble and positive aspiration indeed.
However, I notice that schools, and the Department of Education, fail miserably in this regard when one happens to disagree with a particular “policy”, wishes to adhere to one’s own deeply held beliefs, or puts one’s head above the parapet to protect those self-same beliefs. – Is mise,
