Sir, – Our community’s experience with people seeking refuge is a happy one. Since their arrival in 1999, they have made a welcome contribution by sharing their cultures and talents at performances in aid of a local charity. They have also helped in all the local community events.
Later, they helped our local football team to win matches; one excellent sportsman from Nigeria refused to play until they ceased mouthing the “F” adjective in every sentence!
Now the new arrivals in our community are volunteering each week with our Tidy Towns and keeping our streets spick and span!
They are everything one dreams about in good neighbours. – Yours, etc
