Sir, – As a regular correspondent to The Irish Times and a few other august publications, I am happy with the reasonable and reasoned decisions of subeditors to edit, publish or not publish the submissions they receive.
Last week I attempted to submit a letter for publication to the editor of the New York Times, however I discovered I could not submit one unless I was an online subscriber.
As we come to the end of the year, thank you to The Irish Times and your editorial teams for publishing missives from your readers without charge.
Free access to express agreeable and contrary opinions in the context of confident and competent editorial oversight is highly valued and much appreciated.
