Sir, – I would be grateful if one of your more learned readers than I might explain to me why politicians refer to “the rise of the far right”?
After all, this is a grouping that has no seats in either House of the Oireachtas. We as a nation tend to vote for centrist/soft-left or soft-right groupings, save for a number of hard-left candidates who have been elected, and there have been no polls which have suggested a potential lurch to the right, as has happened in certain other European nations, and why should we change now? Or have I missed something? – Yours, etc,
