Sir, – The revelations regarding the internal communications of Israeli tech company Wix are deeply disturbing (“Wix urged staff to post content backing Israel”, October 25th).
Employees were urged by a manager to back Israel by displaying “Westernity” in social media posts because “unlike the Gazans, we look and live like Europeans or Americans”. There is, of course, a word to describe such sentiments: racism.
The treatment of the Palestinian people and the lack of regard to their plight have been underwritten by racism, in Israel and beyond, and it is no bad thing to see this exposed.
The term “human animals” was also deployed recently by one senior Israeli official. Colonial dispositions remain at the centre of the Palestine/Israel conflict. – Yours, etc,
