Sir, – Allow me to express my disappointment that the UK has been permitted to rejoin the EU’s Horizon science funding programme, along with Copernicus, the EU’s Earth observation programme (World, September 8th).
The UK made a decision to leave the EU and it shouldn’t be allowed to re-enter specific EU programmes, cherrypicking the ones where it thinks it will gain the most. In addition, acceptance of the UK’s application for re-entry will reinforce Brexiteers’ view that the EU cannot manage without Britain.
Shouldn’t Brexit mean Brexit? – Yours, etc,
PAVEL MARIANSKI,
