Sir, – Daniel Sullivan (Letters, September 6th) asserts that neither I nor Eilis Barry (Opinion, September 5th) offered any specific alternative wording to replace the sexist language in Article 41.2 of the Constitution, which refers to women and mothers as having lives and duties in the home.
In fact, as I said in my article, the Oireachtas Gender Equality Committee, which I chaired, did indeed produce a specific alternative constitutional wording, which had unanimous cross-party support. It is available for all to see on the Oireachtas website in our Unfinished Democracy report, published December 2022. – Yours etc,
