Sir, – Is “destruction of demand” an answer to inflation? If so, Government “hand-outs” in the form of energy credits and fuel allowances are not helping.
Neither are the banks in failing to pass on the increased ECB rates to savers, thereby encouraging spending and fuelling demand. One can only ask if the Irish authorities are really interested in curbing inflation? – Yours, etc,

A chara, – Russia is disrupting grain supplies. That means the price of food goes up. That means inflation will go up. That means the ECB will raise interest rates again and we are supposed to believe that will push down the price of food! How does the ECB get away with it? More voodoo economics? Will the next thing be the ECB sticking pins in Putin dolls? – Yours, etc,
