Sir, – Further to recent correspondence (Letters, July 21st), all this talk about the effects, good and bad, of the levy on single-use coffee cups, makes me long for the old days when you had a cup of coffee or tea at home, went to work, had another for your break, and so on until you came home.
I’m firmly convinced, at this stage, of two things. One, if you provide the cup, they will fill it. And two, if you don’t provide it, they won’t.
Maybe the law of unintended consequences will prevail, and we’ll all go back to having a cup of coffee indoors, at home, as a refreshing drink, and not as a fashion accessory. – Yours, etc,
