Sir, – I was intrigued to read that the Cabinet is set to approve plans for the new Irish passport redesign and a theme based on Ireland’s natural environment (“Irish passport redesign based on natural environment and extra security set to be approved by Cabinet”, News, June 27th).
Six years ago, I wrote to the Department of Foreign Affairs after I noticed a curious depiction of wildlife on my daughter’s then-new passport.
In a rural mountain scene like that in the west of Ireland, a largemouth bass familiar to the north American continent can be seen rising to the angler’s fly, rather than our own native brown trout or seatrout.
I never did receive a reply.
Opinion: Jonathan Anderson is a reminder why we shouldn’t push our kids into ‘bullshit jobs’
Search and rescue dogs: ‘They could be a person’s last hope of survival’
‘My daughter can have big meltdowns which are affecting the whole family’
‘I regret spending money on cars. It always feels like a financial black hole’
Perhaps it’s a case now of the patient angler landing the fish? – Yours, etc,
