Sir,– Yesterday I did a survey of the vegetable section of a local shop of a very large supermarket chain.
The onions came from Spain, the garlic from China, the cabbage from Spain, the lettuce from Germany, the tomatoes from Holland and the beans from Morocco.
All of these vegetables are growing happily in my back garden in Cork.
