Sir, – Further to “Dublin to finally get a Catholic cathedral – but it may be on the southside” (News, June 22nd), instead of the Catholic Archbishop of Dublin wanting to establish his own chair of authority in St Andrew’s Church, Westland Row, surely he could negotiate with the Church of Ireland to share Christ Church Cathedral as their common home, which it was in pre-Reformation days. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Regarding the change of use of Dublin’s pro-cathedral, I note that the archbishop “consulted with the Council of Priests”. He certainly didn’t consult with the laity about a scheme which, I presume, will be funded by their money. (Rebranding anything takes money these days).
So while people leave the church in droves, women continue to be ignored or patronised and important social issues are also ignored.
