Sir, – Kieran Fagan (Letters, July 17th) doubts that the colour of broadcasters could be recognised on radio. Pshaw! When I was a lad the national broadcaster offered a weekly programme, Din Joe’s Take the Floor, which, in what I suspect may have been a world first for Ireland, featured set-dancing on radio. The heels of Rory O’Connor and his troupe could be heard maniacally but rhythmically pounding the studio floor, while we, seeing nothing, sweated alongside them and shared their exhausted relief as each set ended.
Where television demands attention, radio asks only imagination. – Yours, etc,
