Sir, – I notice a letter (June 13th) from different charities urging the Government to act now and “make good on our commitment to spend ODA (official development assistance) on those furthest left behind in least developed countries and those worst affected by climate change and conflict”.
But I can’t help wondering if there’s a need for 30 different charities with 30 different CEOs to help people in need in least developed countries?
Could some of these charities not merge – fewer organisations could have more power? And fewer CEOs might mean more money to spend where it’s really needed? – Yours, etc,
SHEILA DEEGAN,
