Sir, – Michael Dowling asks us (Letters, June 11th) to spare a thought for the female golfers on the LPGA and the European LET Tour amid the ongoing furore about the proposed merger in men’s golf.
The implication seems to be that all the Saudi money will be going to men’s professional golf. Fear not. Aramco, a massive Saudi oil and gas company, has been pumping money into women’s professional golf for years through the Aramco Series.
The women’s game has been the subject of sportswashing too. – Yours, etc,
