Sir, – “Is that [the fact that nobody appears to be in charge of planning the aesthetic appearance of our cities, streetscapes, and neighbourhoods] surprising, given that Dublin’s planners designed and commissioned their own headquarters to the low and discordant standards of their Wood Quay offices?” (Michael McDowell, “Nobody is thinking about the aesthetics of our cities”, Opinion & Analysis, June 7th).
While it’s true that “Dublin’s planners’' commissioned the construction of the Wood Quay offices, I think it would be stretching it to suggest they designed the Dublin City Council offices at Wood Quay.
That project was built to designs by Sam Stephenson, and Scott Tallon Walker. – Yours, etc,
