Sir, – Further to Gerard Howlin’s article “Is Europe beckoning Micheál Martin?” (Opinion & Analysis, May 23rd), Mr Martin has been auditioning for Europe for some long time now, getting his interview answers in before the questions are asked, such as on neutrality, the triple lock, and whatever you’re having yourself.
Too bad about the collateral damage to a Fianna Fáil party whose raison d’être would seem to be to give a “leg-up” to a leader on his way to better things. – Yours, etc,
