Sir, – It was heartwarming to note that Irish children overall are in the top grouping internationally in literacy and mathematical ability (“Irish primary children excel in international reading tests”, News, May 16th). It was also gratifying to note the increasing level of achievement in schools for disadvantaged children (Deis).
I would have liked to see more emphasis paid on the levels of success being due, not only to the undeniable input of the teachers, but also the parents, along with that added ingredient, the grandparents. – Yours, etc,
