Sir, – I write in response to Michael P Purcell’s letter (March 7th) in relation to a drone he had commissioned not being able to fly on Clyde Road in Ballsbridge in Dublin.
The reason for the drone not flying is due to flight areas being restricted by the drone software which has been specifically added by the drone manufacturer.
Less advanced drones do not have these restrictions.
Unfortunately the advice to the Minister for Transport to contact the Aviva or the American embassy to find out “how they can do it” will not shed any light on the issue.
