Sir, – I write in response to Michael P Purcell’s letter (March 7th) in relation to a drone he had commissioned not being able to fly on Clyde Road in Ballsbridge in Dublin.
The reason for the drone not flying is due to flight areas being restricted by the drone software which has been specifically added by the drone manufacturer.
Less advanced drones do not have these restrictions.
Unfortunately the advice to the Minister for Transport to contact the Aviva or the American embassy to find out “how they can do it” will not shed any light on the issue.
Ann Ingle: Deliberately going out of my way to move for no particular reason has never appealed to me
Gerry Thornley: How about an alternative look at Ireland’s Six Nations win over England?
Is Ireland anti-Semitic, an outlier of tolerance or in the middle ground?
How risky is it to buy a second-hand EV?
One suggestion would be to contact the drone manufacturers who might place restrictions on some models of drone. – Yours, etc,
MICHAEL GAVIN,
Stillorgan,
Co Dublin.
Sir, – Could it be the drones are queuing for their NDT (National Drone Test)? – Yours, etc,
BRIAN AHERN,
Dublin 15.
