In the mid-eighth century, several contemporary sources recorded that several ships were seen sailing through the skies above Ireland. There are also accounts of these ships becoming increasingly intrusive.
The Annals of Clonmacnoise recorded that an airship disrupted Mass when an anchor it dropped caught on the door of the church.
