Sir, – Aoife Lord suggests that an Irish honours system wouldn’t suit the Irish psyche as it would excite “levels of lobbying, bribery, resentment and begrudgery never imagined heretofore”. She’s pushes our exceptionalism a little as it appears we’d be matching exactly the UK approach to these “honours”. – Yours, etc,
